It’s hard to believe that it’s already September 1st; not just because it’s the beginning of yet another month, but because typically it would be ONE week before we all laced up our sneakers and headed out on a two-day, 39 mile walk through Santa Barbara.
Around this time each year since 2017, I reminisce about the walks and how they impacted my life -- the monies raised for fighting against breast cancer, the friendships made throughout the months leading up to the walk, as well as the friendships made on the route, which have since grown and flourished. I was fortunate to walk with two of my dearest friends throughout the years, memories that will always be dear to me. My early morning walks remind me of so many practice walks, and the crispness in the air brings back memories of everyone congregating by the beach to watch the sun rise and celebrate all of the great accomplishments made. And when I’m driving into Santa Barbara, I still catch myself looking at the passing streets thinking, “this was mile such and such!” It is these memories that I cherish; it’s these memories that compelled me to start something of my own, something that might possibly hold a small candle in comparison. It’s said that “it only takes a spark to get a fire going” and I truly hope that Walk 3to9 helps remind us of what great things we can do individually and as a collective team when we put our mind to it. I am honored to have the trust of so many amazing people over the past 5 years, and hope to earn the trust of SO many more. November 20th will be here before we know it; if you haven’t registered yet, I hope you feel compelled to click on the link www.walk3to9.org and get started on a new journey. I look forward to making continued memories with all of you!
