For the past 6 years, Walk 3to9 has remained committed to our mission in supporting the Dr. Susan Love Foundation for Breast Cancer Research in the fight against this terrible disease. To date the charity walk has raised close to $300K in donations to benefit the Dr. Susan Love Foundation, helping fund over 6000 hours of much needed breast cancer research, but there's still so much to do! As of 2020, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the world in women, surpassing lung cancer with 2.3 million new cases. The Foundation continues to do the innovative, groundbreaking research and studies vital to beating breast cancer, and they need our support now more than ever. For our sixth annual walk, we believe that there’s power in collective action and coming together, and we’re thrilled to merge Walk 3to9 with the Foundation’s 15th annual Walk With Love event held on Sunday, June 11 on the shoreline of Long Beach. Our merger helps unify the walkers, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters of the Foundation into one team – after all, isn’t there strength in numbers? The 2023 Walk With Love course will now feature the option for people to move past the 5K option offered in preceding years, to include the 10K that was signature to Walk 3to9 – giving walkers, joggers, and runners the option to move even more, an extra "push" for research that matters. Walk 3to9 is dedicated to moving the research needle – we invite you to join us on June 11! Register today!

It’s hard to believe that it’s already September 1st; not just because it’s the beginning of yet another month, but because typically it would be ONE week before we all laced up our sneakers and headed out on a two-day, 39 mile walk through Santa Barbara.
Around this time each year since 2017, I reminisce about the walks and how they impacted my life -- the monies raised for fighting against breast cancer, the friendships made throughout the months leading up to the walk, as well as the friendships made on the route, which have since grown and flourished. I was fortunate to walk with two of my dearest friends throughout the years, memories that will always be dear to me. My early morning walks remind me of so many practice walks, and the crispness in the air brings back memories of everyone congregating by the beach to watch the sun rise and celebrate all of the great accomplishments made. And when I’m driving into Santa Barbara, I still catch myself looking at the passing streets thinking, “this was mile such and such!” It is these memories that I cherish; it’s these memories that compelled me to start something of my own, something that might possibly hold a small candle in comparison. It’s said that “it only takes a spark to get a fire going” and I truly hope that Walk 3to9 helps remind us of what great things we can do individually and as a collective team when we put our mind to it. I am honored to have the trust of so many amazing people over the past 5 years, and hope to earn the trust of SO many more. November 20th will be here before we know it; if you haven’t registered yet, I hope you feel compelled to click on the link www.walk3to9.org and get started on a new journey. I look forward to making continued memories with all of you! |
